Manic Monday - A Trip to Oxford with Nails Inc

Hello Guys and hello June! Summer is here! And on this Manic Monday I would like to bring you a review of  a nail varnish by Nails Inc.

I've tried bits and bobs of Nails Inc. Well, only the freebies that have come with magazines. Because, lets be honest, Essie's £7.99 for a nail varnish is a doubtful purchase, never mind a ridiculous £11!

But me being me (always out for bargains), found this lovely set of four for £14.99 at TKMaxx! Obviously every TKMaxx is different, but it's definitely worth popping into a few local stores to find these babies. There were a variety of different sets, but I was drawn to this pastel quad. I did pick up another set of neons for my teenage sister because I just couldn't leave them. I've tried out one shade so far which is called Oxford.

Colour

How exciting! This is the most gorgeous sky blue colour. Every time I look at my nails, I think of holidays and sun, and pools, and beaches, and laying on lilos, and everything else associated with summer.

Consistency

I was actually quite surprised. This isn't as thick as Essie, but it is still quite meaty. I like to put on 2-3 coats. It glides on nicely and the application brush is not too small or too big. It is quite easy to get on the skin though, so always have a nail varnish remover pad at hand.

Finish

I was so proud of myself when my nails had dried. They actually look salon professional. It is such a sleek, shiny finish that really pops, despite me being fair. I think this would look great on all skin tones.

Wearability

This isn't actually too bad and I didn't even use a top coat (slapped wrist). It lasts about 2-3 days before it starts to chip, but even then its minuscule amounts.

So...

Due to the wearability and application not being as good as Essie's, I would give this 4 stars, just! The colour and finish really did win me over.

Play Date - Essie Nail Lacquer Review

Hello! I'm excited to tell you about another Essie Nail Lacquer. This is my second ever try of Essie. I was so impressed with Jam 'n' Jelly, I had to go and get another Spring/Summer shade. After standing at the counter for a good ten minutes, I finally went for the shade 'Play Date'.

I've had a tonne of compliments on the colour. Lots of people have said it reminds them of the purple they used in nursery or infant school. It's a perfect pastel that isn't too light and isn't too dark, And just like Jam 'n' Jelly, it's really hard to chip. I've had this colour on my nails for five days without having to do a single touch-up. I find the only downside to these perfect polishes is they do stain your nails. I definitely need to invest in a good base coat. As for application - it applies just as well as Jam 'n' Jelly. In fact,  the more I've been painting my nails the better I'm getting. This is another 5 star product and I can't wait to try out more shades.

Essie Jam 'n' Jelly Nail Polish Review

This is the first Essie nail polish I've ever tried. I always go through phases when it comes to nail polish because I'm not very good at painting them without it looking like I'd trusted a four year old with my manicure. I've never been able to get my nails looking professional until I found this product. I'd seen Essie nail polishes been raved about online but I knew they were hard to get hold of here in the UK. So when I saw they had come to Boots I had to pick one up! It's a bit pricey for a nail polish at £7.99 (when I told my Nan she thought it was ridiculous) BUT I have to say it was very worth it.

Gold star number one is the colour. I picked the shade Jam 'n' Jelly because it looked like a very wearable bright colour that would last me throughout the Spring and Summer, and I love pink. The colour is extremely similar on as it is in the bottle, but the more coats you apply the darker it becomes.

Gold star number two is application. No more messy four year old manicures for me! Even with my shaky hands it was extremely easy to apply. I applied two coats, and even though some stuff did get on my fingers instead of my nails (it inevitable), it's extremely easy to just peel off when the polish is dry.

Gold star number three is staying power. Usually, most nail varnishes chip on the first day but this has lasted seven whole days! It has lasted through my guitar and piano playing, my ballet classes and my writing workshops and only now after a whole week is it starting to chip.

This is a 5 star product for me, so I will be purchasing this in another shade (and then probably another one). Next mission is to find a pinky nude for my ballet show.
